Christian Prayers & Resources

Saturday - Daily Prayers

Take a moment to listen to the still small voice of God within the bustle of the day which has begun. Find a quiet place where you can enjoy precious moments of peace in God's presence. Sit quietly and listen to the sounds of the world around you, both outside and in the place where you are. Breathe slowly and rest in God's presence......

This world is yours, planned in eternity
created in a moment of sheer exuberance
permeated with love
well made

This day is yours, pure generosity
given for moments of gentle reflection
in the bustle of a day
well made

Listen if you have a minute to this Taize song - Dominus spiritus est - and as you listen to the words and music just empty your mind of the coming day's fears and concerns

Bring to God your closest friends and family.

Extend your thoughts to those you’ve not heard from for some time.

Let your prayer spread like a wave to encompass all those whose lives you have touched.

Be encouraged by the words of the psalmist

"Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." (Psalm 46: 10)

And of a God who knows the smallest detail about you, is concerned for you

"We cannot but admit that not even the least thing takes place unless it is ordered by God. For who have ever been so concerned and curious as to find out how much hair he has on his head? There is no one. God, however, knows the number. Indeed, nothing is too small in us or in any other creature, not to be ordered by the all-knowing and all-powerful providence of God."
Zwingli, Huldryrch

Alone with none but thee, my God
I journey on my way.
What need I fear, when thou art near
O king of night and day?
More safe am I within thy hand
Than if a host did round me stand.

Columba, c 521-97
