Healing
Listen to the words of Jesus in Luke's
Gospel
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed
me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim
freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind,
to release the oppressed."
All: "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still
waters, he restores my soul"
This is the God we serve. A God of
love, of healing and power.
All: Alleluia
This is the God we serve. A God who loves us with a Father's love.
All: Alleluia
A God who laughs as we laugh, and suffers as we suffer
All: Alleluia
A God whose touch brings not only healing but wholeness
All: Alleluia
Father God, let me never forget that
in your dear Son Jesus Christ
you hung on a cross for me, and for all those who have gone before
or who are yet to enter this dark world.
You suffered, bled and died in agony; and the agony that you bore
that day encompassed the agony that we so often heap upon our
own shoulders
our hopelessness, suffering, depression, disappointments, lost
hopes and dreams.
You feel our pain
Weep as we weep
Hurt as we hurt
You know more about us than we do ourselves
and the sap that rises from depth of your love will always refresh,
as in the vine that is damaged
and we shall show fruit again in your time, and in eternity
All: Teach me your way, O Lord,
and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that
I may fear your name.
I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify
your name forever. For great is your love toward me. (Psalm
86)
Father, forgive our unbelief. Forgive
us those times when we cry to you for mercy, for healing, for
release and yet in our hearts expect so much less. Forgive us
those times when we pray for a deluge and expect only drizzle.
Remind us of the power of your Holy Spirit working through the
lives of those early apostles; ordinary people doing extraordinary
things for your glory.
Remind us that Jesus healed all who came to him. That Jesus came
to make broken lives whole.
Forgive us Father for our unbelief. Accept our mustard seed of
faith, for that is often all we have to offer in times of sorrow
or distress.
In a moment of quiet reflection we
bring to God our incompleteness, our hurts, our pains, our fears
and unbelief
(silence)
O Lord our Shepherd
All: Lead me beside the still waters that restore my soul.
O Lord our Saviour
All: Give release from the fears, uncertainties and unease
of this life
O Lord our healer
All: Touch our lives as only you can touch them and flood them
with the power of your Spirit.
In a moment of quiet reflection we
remember the compassion, humility and selfless love shown by Jesus
(silence)
"My sheep know my voice, and
I know them. They follow me, 28 and I give them eternal life,
so that they will never be lost. No one can snatch them out of
my hand."
(John 10)
This is the God we serve. A God who
wants us to enjoy His presence; a God who brings wholeness and
healing into lives that are incomplete.
All: Alleluia
